This is a salt/pepper has a ceramic grinder so it can do either salt or pepper. This wood is a laminated Birch in the colors Red, Green,, Brown and Yellow with a spalted maple piece glued to the top and turned. Basically, the birch is sliced into thin sheets and dyed, then glued together in a block then turned into shape on a lathe.
