This is a pepper mill made to look like an antique grinder. The wood is Beech from a tree that grew here in Maine. This wood had a lot of turkey tail mushrooms growing on it and that caused the black lines and severe spalting inside the wood. It also had some worm holes that had to be filled. This also made the wood super "punky" and we had to stabilize the wood to harden it to make it able to be turned on the lathe. This process also makes it cost a little bit more.
